We see ops teams treat their backlog like an email inbox, every item deserving a reply. It doesn't. Most process improvements aren't worth doing. The discipline is admitting which ones, then protecting time for the four that actually move the business.

A backlog that looks urgent in every row isn't prioritized. It's undifferentiated. When everything is marked important, nothing is, and the team defaults to whatever crossed the finish line of the last standup. Then use the goodwill to get runway for one item from the upper-right quadrant (high impact, high effort) that runs through the rest of the quarter. Teams that do this build compounding momentum. Ad-hoc requests keep overriding the top of the list. The first means the cadence is too slow. The second means it's too frequent. The third means the framework isn't being defended.
